MILWAUKEE - Marquette University senior Michael Bielawski posted his first top-10 finish of the 2007-08 campaign by shooting a season-low 212 (73-69-70) to tie with Golden Eagles teammate Mike Van Sickle (72-69-71) for third place overall at the Palisades Collegiate, which concluded with Tuesday's final round in Charlotte, N.C. Marquette placed fourth out of 14 teams at the two-day event held at the par 72, 6,797-yard Palisades Country Club. "We just didn't finish today's round off, and it could have been a very good round for us," said MU head coach Tim Grogan. "We probably could have come close to catching the leaders. We came close to having our last round be our best round." Bielawski's two-under par 70 paced the Golden Eagles on Tuesday and Van Sickle carded a one-under 71, the junior's 25th round of par-or-better this season. As a team, Marquette fired a six-over 870 (294-285-291), one stroke behind 48th-ranked Augusta State. It was the team's eighth top-five finish in 10 events thus far, including a stretch of three tournaments in a row placing fourth or better. Freshman Kelly Kretz showed some resiliency by shooting back-to-back rounds of 73 after carding a four-over 76 in Monday's opening round. Tournament co-host Charlotte, ranked fifth in Golfstat's most recent head-to-head rankings, won the event with an 856 (279-283-294), tying a school record with five tournament championships this season. Runner-up Virginia Commonwealth (862) boasted the individual medalist, Vincent Nadeau, who finished with a tournament record 10-under 206 (68-71-67). 2008 Palisades Collegiate Final Results
