IOWA CITY, Iowa — Sophomore Oliver Farrell sits in a tie for sixth place with a 3-under-par score through 27 holes, including an opening round 70, to lead sixth-place Marquette on a weather-shortened Saturday at the Hawkeye Invitational, hosted by Iowa at Finkbine G.C.
Play was halted with all teams halfway through their second round - Marquette shot a 1-over-par 289 in round one on the par 72, 7,186-yard course. MU unofficially sits 4-over-par in the second round, which is set to resume on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
Farrell hit the midway point of his second round before play was stopped - through 27 holes, he has five birdies, including two on his first nine holes of the second round.
Reigning BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week Charlie Maleki shot an opening round 72, while freshmen Matt Murlick and Matthew Bachmann are tied for 26th at 2-over-par through 27 holes.
