Golden Eagles Complete Regular Season at BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Marquette University finished the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship tied for ninth place with a third-round team score of 301 Tuesday at the Innisbrook Copperhead Course. MU was paced by junior Kelly Kretz who closed with an even-par 71 and finished two strokes off the lead.
Kretz tied for eighth place with a three-day total of 4-over 217 (76-70-71). It was his third top-10 finish of the season and second in as many starts. Georgetown's Vincenzo Salina led the Hoyas to the championship with a score of 215 and earned the individual title after winning a four-person playoff.
Marquette put together a tournament score of 895 (306-288-301), tied with Rutgers. Georgetown tallied a score of 873 to edge runner-up Notre Dame (874) by one stroke while defending champion Louisville (876) ended up in third place.
Lone MU senior Mike McDonald, in his first BIG EAST Championship appearance, shot 219 (75-70-74) and finished tied for 15th place.
