Marquette Ends Up 8th at El Macero Classic

El Macero, Calif. - The Marquette men's golf team wrapped up their spring regular season schedule by finishing eighth at the El Macero Classic on Easter Sunday. Sophomore CJ Swift had his best outing of the season ending up tied for 17th with a 7-over par 223 (74-77-72).

Swift's even par 72 in the final round helping lead MU to a strong finish along with a solid performance from junior Brandon Cloete who scored a 224 (72-77-75) ending up in a tie for 21st. Nick Nelson snuck into the top-30 with a 10-over par 226 (77-77-72) while last week's star performer, Pat Sanchez, followed closely behind with a 227 (76-73-78).

Host school UC Davis took the top honors in the team and individual category. Matt Hansen led the way with an incredible 6-under par 210 (72-69-69) adding to the Aggies overall team victory. UC Davis used the homer course to their advantage as they pulled away from the pack with a team score of 856, miles ahead of second place team Cal State Fullerton.

The Golden Eagles now turn their attention to the Big East Men's Golf Championship taking place April 27-29 at Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie Island, S.C.
