Marquette Tops UW Parkside in BIG EAST Championship Tune-Up

MILWAUKEE — Senior Henry Klongland shot an even par 71 to lead the way for Marquette in an 18-hole 292-324 victory over Division II Wisconsin-Parkside at Tripoli C.C. on Friday.

Both programs used the meeting as final tune-ups before conference championship play - MU opens the BIG EAST Men’s Golf Championship next Sunday (April 30) at Callawassie Island, South Carolina, while Parkside opens Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship play tomorrow in Springfield, Missouri.

Klongland was the only player for either team to finish at par for the round on the par 71, 6,553-yard course.

Oliver Farrell made par on 14 of 18 holes in his 30th round of the season to shoot a 1-over-par 73.  Farrell enters next weekend’s BIG EAST Championship second in the conference in scoring average, at just over 72 strokes per round.
