MU Enters Play Monday in Third Place at BIG EAST Championship

REUNION, Fla. - Marquette enters second-round play Monday currently in third place at the 2013 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship. The Golden Eagles sit just four strokes off the lead after posting a first-round team score of 298 Sunday at the Tom Watson Course at Reunion Resort.
Freshman Zach Gaugert was 3-over-par after a double bogey on the par-4 fourth hole, but he managed to go 4-under the rest of the way with four birdies over the next 12 holes to finish at 1-under 71.
Gaugert is tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard after the first of three rounds of action, followed by fellow freshman Pat Sanchez (T10). Sanchez also carded four birdies Sunday en route to an even-par 72.
Notre Dame leads the 12-team event after shooting a first-round 288. South Florida (290) is in second place, two strokes ahead of Marquette.
