Men's Golf Completes First Two Rounds at The McLaughlin

Update (9:08 a.m. CT, Sunday, Sept. 16): Sanchez was tied for 12th place overall through 36 holes, and Prickette tied for 28th following conclusion of round two early Sunday morning. MU was in 13th place in the team standings.
OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. - The Marquette University men's golf team opened the 2012 fall season at The McLaughlin on Saturday. MU was able to complete two full rounds at the par-70 Bethpage State Park Red Course, but second-round play was ultimately suspended due to darkness.
Two more groups need to finish Sunday morning before round two is officially in the books. Marquette (293) was tied for 11th place through the first round led by freshmen Zach Gaugert and Pat Sanchez, who both shot 72 in their collegiate debut.
Sanchez was MU's second-round pace setter with an even-par 70 followed by senior Ryan Prickette who turned in a second-round 71 after opening with a 74. As a team, MU was able to shave two strokes off its opening-round team score with a 291 in the second round.
The McLaughlin will conclude Sunday. Third-round action begins at 6:30 a.m. Central time. Marquette will be among the final group to tee off, beginning at 9:10 a.m. CT.
