Van Sickle wins second Pennsylvania Open Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Marquette held on to its sixth place standing after two rounds following the conclusion of the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Golden Eagles shot a 302, matching the second round score, finishing at 39-over, 903. Oakland ran away from the field to win the tournament by 14 strokes.

MU sophomore Steve Sass was the Golden Eagles' highest finisher. He placed 15th, shooting a final round 74. He finished at six-over, 222, for the tournament. Butler's Colin Christie won the event, nine strokes the better of Sass.

MU junior Nathan Colson also had a top-20 finish for the Golden Eagles. His three-round 224 (eight-over) was good enough for an 18th place tie.

Sophomore Joe Weber fell out of the top 20, shooting a final round 78. He finished a respectable 25th place with a 12-over, 228. Freshman Michael Bielawski completed play in his collegiate debut, with a 15-over, 231. He placed 37th. Sophomore Kyle Weber rounded out the Marquette scoring. He finished 48th with a 19-over, 235.

The Golden Eagles return to action on September 27-28 in the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
