Men's Golf Finishes 12th at The McLaughlin

OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. -- A young Marquette University squad wrapped up its first men's golf tournament of the 2012-13 season on Sunday, finishing 12th out of 16 teams at the McLaughlin, led by freshman Pat Sanchez (T31).
Sanchez, one of three MU freshmen to make their collegiate debut over the weekend, closed with a final-round 75, but was still the Golden Eagles' top finisher after opening with a 72 and even-par 70, respectively, Saturday at the Bethpage State Park Red Course.
Also playing their first collegiate event were freshmen Zach Gaugert and Nick Nelson. Gaugert carded MU's low round on Sunday with a 71, while Nelson shot a 73 as did senior Ryan Prickette, who finished tied for 36th overall.
Marquette returns to action next weekend at the Windon Memorial Classic, Sept. 23-24, at Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill.
