Marquette Golfers Tie For Third Place at Doc Gimmler

BETHPAGE, N.Y. - Marquette University held its position during Sunday's final round at Bethpage Red to finish tied for third place at the 14-team Doc Gimmler men's golf tournament. MU shot 2-under-par with a team score of 838 in its first event of the 2013 fall season.
Redshirt sophomore C.J. Swift (72-69-67), who grew up just across the Long Island Sound in nearby New Canaan, Conn., paced the Golden Eagles with a 3-under-par 67 in the third round and finished tied for seventh place on the individual leaderboard with a score of 208.
MU, which finished 12th out of 16 teams at the same event (formerly called The McLaughlin) last year, tied with Florida Southern and was two strokes behind runner-up Harvard (836), while Yale (820) ran away with the tournament title.
The Golden Eagles return to action Sept. 22-23 at the Windon Memorial Classic, which this year will be held at Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
