GLENVIEW, Ill. -- GLENVIEW, Ill. -- Senior Kelly Kretz fired a first-round 72, while freshman Corey Konieczki and junior Matt Haase each carded 74 to close second-round action Sunday, leading the Marquette University men's golf team on the opening day of the Windon Memorial Classic at North Shore Country Club.

Marquette is in 17th place heading into the final round of the tournament which is scheduled to being Monday morning at the par-71, 7,067-yard track. Despite a combined team score of 614 (310-304) following the first two rounds, the Golden Eagles had some highlights on day one, but realize more consistent play will be needed if they are to make up any ground.

Kretz was 1-under-par through his first 14 holes of the tournament, including back-to-back birdies to start off the day. However, the MU senior bogeyed three out of his last four holes in the first round and went on to shoot 83 in round two. Konieczki, playing in his third-ever collegiate event, currently leads the squad after posting a score of 152 (78-74) on the day, three strokes ahead of Kretz.

Sophomore Ryan Prickette shot 80 and 77, respectively, for a 157 and Haase rebounded to come in at 159 -- tied with teammate Ben Sieg -- after carding an opening-round 85 under windy conditions at times.

Michigan leads the field at 4-over-par 572 for the tournament, followed by California (574) and Tulsa (578). Michigan's Lion Kim (2-under 140) sits atop the individual leaderboard with a two-stroke advantage over Tennessee's robin Wingardh.

Sieg will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT Monday followed by Haase at 9:39 a.m. Konieczki owns MU's last tee time of the day, and final tee time of the event, starting off hole 10 at 10:06 a.m.

Live scoring will be available for Monday's final round.
