Van Sickle wins second Pennsylvania Open Championship

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. -- Marquette shot a 312 in its final round of the Cardinal Intercollegiate in Simpsonville, Ky., to finish 13th place at 56-over par. Marquette was in 11th after two rounds. The Golden Eagles finished up the fourth day of back-to-back tournaments.

Eastern Kentucky claimed the win, shooting one stroke better than South Alabama for the round and the tournament. EKU was at seven-over, 871, while USA was at eight over.

USA's Gareth Maybin held on to his three stroke lead for the tournament win. He shot a seven-under, 209, beating Patrick Williams of Eastern Kentucky by three shots.

Sophomore Kyle Murphy and freshman Michael Bielawski were MU's low scorers. Both shot 229 (+13) to finish in 44th place. Sophomore Joe Weber was one shot shy of Murphy and Bielawski at 230 in 49th place. Sophomore Steve Sass shot a 17-over, 233, finishing 58th. Junior Nathan Colson finished the tournament in 64th place at 239.

The Golden Eagles next play October 6-7 at the 49er Collegiate Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
