Motz Leads Marquette With Runner-Up Finish at John Dallio Memorial

LEMONT, Ill. -- Marquette University sophomore Michael Motz finished tied for second place after shooting a 1-under-par 71 Sunday in the final round of the John Dallio Memorial, hosted by DePaul University.
Motz opened with rounds of 74 and 72, respectively, Saturday at the par-72 Ruffled Feathers Golf Club and was in seventh place following after the opening day. He made five birdies Sunday, including four on the back nine, to finish at 217 for the tourney and posted his best finish in 11 collegiate events. Motz tied for runner-up with two others, four strokes behind individual medalist Emilio Cuartero (213) of Missouri.
Playing in their third team event of the 2011 fall season, the Golden Eagles placed 13th overall with a team score of 938 (310-311-317).
Marquette returns to the Chicagoland area next weekend for the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern University, Oct. 16-17, at Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Ill.
