GREENSBORO, N.C. - Marquette University compiled its lowest team round of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate closing with a 298 Sunday on the par-72 East Course at Grandover Resort where the Golden Eagles finished in 12th place, one stroke ahead of Notre Dame.

Redshirt junior CJ Swift (T27), who earned his way into the lineup for the first time in five events this fall, paced squad with a 54-hole total of 223. Swift was the MU golfer to go below par on the weekend after he fired an opening-round 71.

Freshman Trevor Thomas fired a 1-over 73 Sunday, which was the Golden Eagles' low round of the day followed by Swift and Pat Sanchez who each carded 74.

North Carolina (849) took home the team trophy led by individual medalist Ben Griffin (206), who followed up an opening-round 74 with a 65 and 67, respectively, to hold off Virginia Tech's Scott Vincent (207)

Marquette returns next weekend to the Wendy's Kiawah Classic (Nov. 2-4) at Turtle Point Golf Course where Golden Eagles junior Nick Nelson looks to defend his 2013 title. Nelson shot a three-day total of 6-under 210 (70-67-73) to beat South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith by two strokes and lead MU to a runner-up finish.
