Round 2 Results
EL PASO, Texas — Oliver Farrell’s season-low 68 in the second round lifted him to fifth place and 6-under-par for the tournament, as Marquette shot a 4-under-par 284 to move into a second place tie at the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Invitational, hosted by UTEP at Butterfield Trail G.C.
The Golden Eagles posted their second straight sub-par round, moving to 9-under-par through 36 holes (283-284-567) and into a tie with New Mexico State on the team leaderboard, 11 shots behind leader UTEP.
Farrell leads three MU players in the top 10 - freshman Ferdinand Müller posted a second round 69 (3-under-par) and is in sixth place at 5-under-par for the tournament, while Charlie Maleki is tied for ninth at 3-under-par.
ROUND TWO NOTES
- Farrell matched his career low round on Saturday - he shot 68 in the second and third rounds at the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Invite last October on the way to a seventh place finish. Along with 11 total birdies in the tournament, second in the 75-player field, Farrell posted an eagle on the par-4 15th.
- Müller, who is playing as an individual, set a career low for the second straight day to gain four spots on the leaderboard - he went 1-under-par on the front nine and finished his day with three birdies on his final five holes.
- Maleki shot his third straight sub par round with a 1-under-par 71. His start was strong - Maleki had three birdies and no bogeys over the first 13 holes.
- Sticking to a season trend, Marquette’s team score on the back nine was strong again, as the five starters combined to go 4-under-par to finish round two.
