Zach Gaugert shot an even-par 35 on the front nine for MU

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Marquette jumped two spots to 12th place on the 15 team ladder following second round play at The Gifford Collegiate at the La Costa Legends Course on Tuesday.
Senior Pat Sanchez followed-up yesterday’s 2-over-par 73, with a 1-over-par 72 to lead the way for the Golden Eagles in the second round. The Mazatlan, Mexico native sits tied for 26th place after 36 holes.
- Marquette improved upon their opening round of 15-over-par 299 by shooting a 9-over-par 293 on the second day of action. Their overall score of 24-over-par 592 has them just four strokes back of 9th place.
- Sanchez recorded an even-par 36 back nine and potted four birdies for the second straight day. His four birdies again led Marquette.
- Highlighted by two birdies and a team-high twelve pars, senior Zach Gaugert used a 2-over-par 73 to move two spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 33rd place.
- Seniors CJ Swift and Gaugert, and freshman Oliver Farrell all turned in even-par 35 front nines for the Golden Eagles. The three players combined for three birdies and just three bogeys on the front.
Marquette will tee off the final round of play with Harvard and Texas A&M on hole No.10 at 10:15 a.m. CT on Wednesday.
