PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Freshman Ryan Prickette shot a two-over-par 74 to lead the Marquette University men's golf team Monday in the opening round of the Saint Mary's Invitational at Poppy Hills Golf Course.

Second round action was suspended due to darkness. Players will complete the round Tuesday then tee off for the final round.

Prickette is currently tied for 28th place on the individual leaderboard while the Golden Eagles sit in 16th place overall. Mike McDonald (t-37th) carded an opening-round 75 followed by a 78 by Ben Sieg (t-68th).

Kelly Kretz and Matt Haase both shot 81, but only one of those score is thrown out as each team's top four scores each round are counted toward the team total.

At 308, Marquette is three strokes behind Wisconsin (305) and five behind Pacific (303). Led by Espen Kofstad's low round of 67, Denver currently leads the 16-team field at 285.
