Van Sickle Named Player of the Week by National Publication
March 5, 2007 MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Mike Van Sickle was named national men's collegiate player of the week by Golfweek. Van Sickle won two tournaments last week, winning the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate and the Ron Smith/USF Invitational. Van Sickle currently leads the team in scoring average at 72.00 strokes per 18 holes. No golfer in MU history has broken 73.00 strokes per 18 for a season. He is currently ranked no. 86 in the country by Golfstat. With two individual wins on the season, Van Sickle is one win shy of the individual season win record held by Tom Uutala who won three times in the 1996-97 season. Uutala won six career tournaments at Marquette. The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 10 when they compete in the Mission Inn Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
