Marquette Remains in Second at Big East Championship

Callawassie Island, S.C. – The Marquette golf team remains in second place heading in to the final round of the Big East Men’s Golf Championship. Brandon Cloete and CJ Swift are currently tied for fourth after Cleote’s impressive day one and Swift’s even-par 72 in the second round. St. John’s extended their day one lead over the Golden Eagles as the Johnnies now have a ten-stroke cushion with 18 holes left.

Marquette’s Zach Gaugert and Pat Sanchez continue to play well as the two teammates are tied for tenth. Gaugert recorded the tournaments first eagle when he scored a three on the par-5 fifth hole.

The Red Storm boast both the first and second place individuals as Ryan McCormick and Ben Ludlam have separated themselves from the pack. The low round of the day goes to Georgetown’s Gregory Podufal who scored an impressive five-under par 67.

The final 18 holes tees-off at 7 am CT and will see the winner qualify automatically for the NCAA Tournament.
