MILWAUKEE -- Charlie Maleki, a product of Homestead High School in Mequon, will join the Marquette University men's golf team beginning with the 2015-16 season.
Maleki will have four years of eligibility for the Golden Eagles starting this fall. He will join November signee Oliver Farrell (Worcestershire, England) as newcomers for MU, which won its second BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship in program history this past April.
"Charlie was the leader on Homestead's state title team and brings a wealth of national experience to MU," coach Steve Bailey said. "I have been extremely impressed with his work ethic and I'm confident that desire to improve will serve him well at collegiate level."
At Homestead, Maleki was a key member of the Highlanders' 2014 WIAA Division I state championship team and finished fifth among all individuals at last year's championships. Following his junior season, Maleki was part of a victorious Team Wisconsin at the 17th Wisconsin/Minnesota Cup Matches, along with current MU players Trevor Thomas and Garrett Loomis.
Along with his stellar play last season, Maleki had tournament wins at the 2013 Lake Arrowhead Invitational and at the Wisconsin Junior PGA Players Tour #5 event. His sophomore year included a tie for tenth at the University of Michigan Golf Course event on the Golfweek Junior Tour in October 2013.
Maleki was the 2013 WSGA Boys Junior Player of the Year and finished tied for second at the 2013 WSGA State Junior championships. He finished second on the individual leaderboard at the North Shore Conference championships in 2013 and 2014, and was a first team all-conference selection both year.
Academically, Maleki earned academic all-state honors in his sophomore and junior seasons, and is a National Honor Society member.
