Farrell's Final Qualifying Draw

SUTTON COLDFIELD, England -- Incoming Marquette freshman Oliver Farrell fired a 2-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors at Little Aston Golf Course on Monday, June 22 and advance to Final Qualifying for the 2015 Open Championship at St. Andrews.

Farrell topped the 121-man Regional Qualifying field, earning one of the eight spots for Final Qualifying on Tuesday, June 30 at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club in Kent, England.

Farrell is among 10 amateurs in the field at Royal Cinque Ports, where three individuals will advance to the Open Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland July 16-19.  His path to the Old Course includes 36 holes and begins with a tee time at 7 a.m. GMT (2 a.m. CDT) on June 30.

Entering his Open Championship Final Qualifier, Farrell is ranked 31st in the England amateur rankings by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

Farrell’s victory is the third for an MU player since the Golden Eagles’ NCAA Tournament run ended in May - junior Nick Nelson has a pair of wins this summer, including a victory in U.S. Open Local Qualifying.
