MU Golfers Set To Go Head-to-Head At Wisconsin State Am

MILWAUKEE -- Marquette University will again be well-represented at the WSGA Wisconsin State Amateur Championship. A total of five individuals from the MU golf family qualified for this year's tournament which runs July 19-22 at The Bull at Pinehurst Farms in Sheboygan Falls, Wis.
Senior Ben Sieg, sophomore Ryan Prickette and assistant coach Kyle Murphy each won their respective qualifying tournaments. Prickette shot 1-under 71 at Branch River Country Club in Manitowoc, Wis.; Sieg carded a 4-under 68 to win by three strokes at Wild Ridge Golf Course in Eau Claire, Wis.
In qualifying, Coach Murphy went low out of the bunch firing a 4-under 67 at Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls, Wis. Mike McDonald, who wrapped up his career with the Golden Eagles as a senior in 2009-10, tied for 12th place at Wanaki to qualify.
Senior Kelly Kretz earned an exemption into this year's field by virtue of finishing in the top 25 in last year in WSGA Amateur Player of the Year points. Kretz finished seventh in the 2009 standings.
Junior Matt Haase is listed as an alternate.
