Men's Golf Opens 2012 Fall Season at Historic Bethpage

OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. -- Third-year head coach Steve Bailey and the Marquette University men's golf team embark on another season this weekend, returning to the Bethpage State Park Red Course to open the 2012-13 campaign at The McLaughlin.
Four newcomers will be making their Marquette debut Saturday, which includes 36 holes, followed by a final round of play on Sunday. Joining senior Ryan Prickette with be sophomore transfer Jack McKinney and freshmen Nick Nelson, Zach Gaugert and Pat Sanchez.
This weekend's lineup was determined by a series of team qualifying events during the first two weeks of practice.
Marquette is one of 16 schools competing in the McLaughlin, along with host St. John's and fellow BIG EAST Conference member Louisville.
2012-13 Men's Golf Preview
The Golden Eagles will play a practice round on Friday before teeing off the first round of play at 7:30 a.m. Central time Saturday.
MU returns to Bethpage following a five-year hiatus. The Golden Eagles placed third overall at the 2006 McLaughlin tournament while current assistant coach Mike Bielawski turned in a second-place finish.
Bethpage Red is a par-70 track that stretches 7,014 yards with a slope of 127 and a rating of 72.2. Bethpage State Park (Black Course) hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009.
