Marquette Intercollegiate Comes to Milwaukee C.C. Oct. 2-3

Sept. 20, 2016

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Country Club will play host for the first time to Marquette’s annual home event, the 10-team Marquette Intercollegiate, Oct. 2-3.

The MU program will welcome nine teams - Liberty, Ole Miss, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Seton Hall, SMU, UCLA, Valparaiso and Wisconsin - to one of the top courses in the United States.  Milwaukee C.C. was rated 62nd in Golf Digest’s Top 100 U.S. Golf Courses for 2015-16.  Admission is free to the 54-hole event, which includes 36 holes on Sunday.

“What a privilege it is for us to host a college golf tournament at such a prestigious venue,” seventh-year Marquette head coach Steve Bailey says.  “The combination of a world-class golf course and mystique of Milwaukee Country Club, will prove to be a memorable experience.  We are very thankful for all the folks at Milwaukee Country Club that made this event possible.”

Championship play on the course is par 72, 7,097 yards.  Milwaukee Country Club was established in 1894 and the current course layout was set in 1927.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Marquette is hosting an intercollegiate event.  The past three were played at Erin Hills G.C., which is unavailable for play this fall as the site is prepared to host its first major, the 2017 US Open in June.

Ole Miss, NIU, Northwestern, SMU, UCLA and Wisconsin have played MU’s home events in past seasons.
