Van Sickle Wins PGA Q-School Pre-qualifier, Bielawski Also Advances

MILWAUKEE -- Marquette University almuni Michael Bielawski and Mike Van Sickle participated this past weekend in PGA pre-qualification tournament in Lincoln, Neb., and both former MU golfers advanced to the First Stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament led by Van Sickle who won the pre-qualifier with a final round six-under-par 64.

Van Sickle, who also shot 64 in the second round after beginning the day five strokes behind the first-round leader, carded 24 birdies in four rounds of play at Yankee Hill Country Club. He finished at 11-under 269.

Bielawski shot eight-over 288 (T-40), including a one-under 69 in round two. There were five pre-qualifying tournaments throughout the country; the top 43 players and ties in the 84-man field in Lincoln advanced to the First Round, with two more stages to pass (Second Stage and Final Stage) after that.
