MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's golf team is set to compete in the Badger Invitational Sept. 29-Oct. 1, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. The 14-team field will play 18 holes each day on the par-72, 7,259-yard course.

Teams will participate in a practice round Saturday. Tournament play will start at 9 a.m. Sunday and Monday from holes 1 and 10, followed by a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start for Tuesday's final round.

Live scoring will not be available for the Badger Invitational. Results will be posted to following each round.

Marquette will send out Henry Klongland, CJ Swift, Corey Konieczki, Pat Sanchez, and Nick Nelson with Zach Gaugert playing as an individual.

Both Klongland (Stoughton, Wis.) and Gaugert (Waunakee, Wis.) grew up within 23 miles of the University Ridge Golf Course and competed there multiple times at the WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament during their high school careers.

Through his first two collegiate tournaments, the freshman Klongland leads MU with a scoring average of 70.5.

The other 12 teams joining Marquette and UW are Austin Peay, Charleston Southern, Illinois State, Kansas, Northern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Rutgers, South Carolina, UMKC, USC Upstate, Wofford and Xavier.

The men's golf team rolls into Madison after a respectable finish earlier this week at the Windon Memorial Classic, finishing sixth in a 16-team field. The Golden Eagles tied for third at The 2013 Doc Gimmler to open the fall season.

This Sunday starts the first leg of back-to-back local tournaments for MU. Following this week's action, Marquette will host the Erin Hills Intercollegiate Oct. 6-8 at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wis.
