AKRON, Ohio -- Marquette will be one of 11 schools competing in the Firestone Invitational which begins with back-to-back rounds Monday at the prestigious Firestone Country Club. Live scoring is available for the two-day event.
Golfers will play the North Course, which is set at 7,060 yards (par 72), beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Tuesday's final round tees off from hole one and hole 10 at the same time.
Joining Marquette, along with host Akron, will be: Eastern Michigan, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Pacific, Rhode Island, St. Mary's (California), Toledo and Western Carolina.
Head coach Tim Grogan will go with the same lineup for the third consecutive week, led by junior Kelly Kretz who placed fifth at last week's Xavier Invitational. Marquette placed third, while Akron won the team title. Joining Kretz will be senior Mike McDonald, sophomore Matt Haase, junior Ben Sieg and freshman Ryan Prickette.
Firestone Country Club annually hosts one of three World Golf Championships -- the WCG-Bridgstone Invitational. The course has also hosted three PGA Championships.
