Eichhorn Named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

Oct. 26, 2017

After earning his first collegiate career win last weekend in Texas, Marquette freshman Hunter Eichhorn was named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week by the conference office on Thursday.

Eichhorn posted a 9-under-par 204 (67-72-65) at the Price's Give' 'Em Five Invitational, hosted by UTEP.  He entered the final round tied for sixth, before shooting a field-best 6-under-par on Sunday to make his move up the leaderboard.  Eichhorn turned in a bogey free round, and his birdie on the Par 4 15th broke the tie for first place while his birdie on No. 18 sealed the one-stroke victory.

For the weekend, Eichhorn was second in the field with 14 birdies and bogeyed only five of 54 holes.  No. 22 Marquette finished in second place as a team at 3-under-par (281-288-280--849).

In five starts this fall, Eichhorn has four sub-70 rounds and nine total under par.  He ranks seventh in the nation in birdies made with 60, and his 70.93 average (-0.47 vs. par) is second in the BIG EAST behind teammate Austin Kendziorski.
