SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The Marquette University men's golf team will compete in its first match play event in nearly five years when the Golden Eagles tee up Friday at The Match Play at Pine Needles.

DePaul is the designated host of this year's event which will feature 11 of 12 BIG EAST Conference programs. Teams will have a practice round Friday morning at the par-71, 7,011-yard Pine Needles Golf Club. Matches are scheduled to begin Friday afternoon and run through Sunday, Nov. 1.

Teams will consist of six members from each school with each player eligible to record a point toward their respective team's score. One point is awarded to each player who earns a win against his opponent, with a half point being awarded to a halved (tied) match.

Teams have been seeded according to current Golfstat rankings. Notre Dame has been given the No. 1 seed, followed by Louisville, Cincinnati, Connecticut, DePaul, Marquette, Rutgers, Seton Hall, USF and Villanova. Likewise, team lineups will be set based upon the individuals' current Golfstat ranking.

Marquette's six-member team includes Mike McDonald, Kelly Kretz, Ben Sieg, Matt Haase, Ryan Prickette and Sammy Bettinardi.
