Golfers To Wrap Up Fall Season At Pacific Invite

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Marquette tees off this week at the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational held at Brookside Country Club, Nov. 3-5. The Golden Eagles are one of 12 teams playing in this year's event. Live scoring is available for the tournament.

Other participants include tournament host Pacific, Kansas State, Oregon, UC Davis, Fresno State, Sacramento State, BYU, Rice, Texas San-Antonio, UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge.

Marquette took third place at the event in 2007. Mike Van Sickle led the Golden Eagles with a sixth-place showing, carding an 11-under-par 205 (69-67-69). Kelly Kretz also had a top-10 finish (9th) with his 10-under 206 (69-71-68).

According to the most recent Golfstat Comparison Rankings, Van Sickle ranks among the national leaders in several statistical categories, including fifth in scoring average (69.25) and birdies (60).

As a team, Marquette's 10 eagles this season ranks second among all NCAA Division I programs. Sophomore Matt Haase and junior Ben Sieg are tied for 16th in the category with three eagles each.

This is the final tournament of the fall season for the Golden Eagles.
