EL PASO, Texas -- Marquette senior Mike Van Sickle wrapped up day one at the 34th Annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, hosted by the Sun Bowl Association, following two rounds of play Monday at the El Paso Country Club.

Van Sickle is one of eight players tied for 11th place heading into Tuesday's final round. Paired with Rickie Fowler of Oklahoma State and Indiana's Jorge Campillo, Van Sickle finished at two-over-par 144 (74-70).

Despite tallying five birdies in round one, Van Sickle saw his score remain above par with five bogeys, including one triple and a double. Round two was more steady for the Wexford, Pa., native, as Van Sickle scored par on 11 of 18 holes, in addition to four more birdies.

Van Sickle is currently six strokes behind tournament leader Corey Nagy of Charlotte, who put together back-to-back rounds of 67 and 71, respectively, for a four-under 138. Nagy leads by one stroke over Clemson's Kyle Stanley (71-68).

Final-round action begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Van Sickle will be paired with Campillo (+2) and Nick Taylor (+1) of Washington and is scheduled to tee off on hole one at 8:10 a.m.

Live scoring of the final round is available at www.golfstat.com.

Each university that has a player participating in the tournament will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Over the past 33 years, the Sun Bowl Association has donated over $625,000 to collegiate golf through this scholarship program.
