No. 17/17 Ohio State Rallies For 11-7 Win Over MU
The Marquette men's lacrosse team fell to No. 17/17 Ohio State 11-7 Saturday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 17/16 Marquette University men's lacrosse squad looks to build off its first multi-goal victory of the season when it takes on Ohio State at noon Central time on Sunday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium. The game will be the first contest on the final day of the Midwest Classic Lacrosse Weekend.

The Golden Eagles improved to 4-0 on the season with a 12-6 victory over Detroit on Friday afternoon in Louisville. Junior attackman Conor Gately scored a second straight hat trick in the win, while Jordan Greenfield and Ryan McNamara each had a pair of goals.

Marquette held a 45-20 edge in shots and was perfect on all 19 clear attempts. The Golden Eagles also won 14-of-21 in the faceoff X, highlighted by 7-of-11 and 6-of-7 performances by Owen Weselak and Gryphin Kelly, respectively.

The Buckeyes (4-1) led 7-2 and held on for an 8-7 win against the host Bellarmine Knights on Friday. Reigning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Jesse King had two goals and a pair of assists in the win and leads the Buckeyes with 14 goals and seven assists on the season.

King tallied four goals and a pair of assists in an 11-7 OSU victory in the last meeting against MU on Feb. 22, 2014. Marquette's Kyle Whitlow scored a hat trick in that contest and MU out-shot OSU 29-26, but trailed the Buckeyes 14-7 in faceoff wins and 32-21 in the ground ball battle.

The Golden Eagles are 0-2 all-time against the Buckeyes.
