Marquette's Grill on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
March 5, 2018
NEW YORK – Marquette University sophomore defenseman Nick Grill was selected to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for his play in a 1-1 week.
Grill played a key role on a defense that limited No. 4/6 Ohio State and Bellarmine to seven goals apiece in the Midwest Lacrosse Classic. His work on OSU attackman Tre Leclaire helped limit the Buckeyes’ leading scorer without a point in Friday’s 8-7 overtime victory as MU improved to 4-9 all-time against top-five opponents.
He picked up one ground ball against OSU and a pair in the Bellarmine game. The accolade is the first weekly honor of the season for Grill, a unanimous BIG EAST All-Preseason Team selection. He was also named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week once last season as a rookie.
The No. 19/18 Golden Eagles (3-1) resume action on Saturday, March 10 at Valley Fields when they welcome Robert Morris, a team that sits just outside the top 20 in the Maverik Division I Media Poll.
