NEW YORK – Marquette University junior goalie Cole Blazer was honored as the BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week for men’s lacrosse after posting 31 saves during the Midwest Lacrosse Classic.

Blazer, a 2016 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, made a program-record 18 saves in Marquette’s loss to then-No. 20/17 Ohio State on Friday before adding 13 in an 8-6 win on Sunday over Detroit Mercy. It is the second weekly honor of the 2017 campaign for the Libertyville, Illinois native, who also earned honor roll recognition after allowing just one goal in MU’s season opener at Jacksonville.
