BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK - The BIG EAST Conference announced on Monday afternoon that Marquette University men's lacrosse junior attackman Conor Gately was named to the weekly honor roll after his four-point day in a 10-9 loss at Georgetown on March 21.

At the 13:45 mark in the fourth quarter the Yorktown Heights, New York native assisted Jordan Greenfield to tally his 90th career point, which surpassed Tyler Melnyk's (2012-14) previous program record of 89.

The accolade is the first career conference honor for the 2015 Tewaaraton Award Watch List member.

No. 13/12 Marquette (7-1) found itself in an 8-2 hole at halftime in its BIG EAST opener against the Hoyas. Gately's first goal of the day came with 7:10 remaining in the third quarter and was the second in what became a 7-1 run by the Golden Eagles over the entirety of the third quarter and 11:45 of the fourth quarter.

Gately cut MU's deficit to 9-6 and tied the all-time point record with his second goal late in the third period. He followed that tally up with his record-breaking assist to Greenfield, which made it a 9-7 game.

The three-year starter has accumulated 15 goals and eight assists during the 2015 campaign to rank second on the squad with 23 points.

The Golden Eagles visit Villanova on Saturday, March 28. Face off at Villanova Stadium is scheduled for noon Central time.
