DeMichiei and McNamara on BIG EAST Honor Roll
April 11, 2016
NEW YORK – Marquette University juniors Andy DeMichiei and Ryan McNamara were each named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday following the Golden Eagles’ 11-7 victory at St. John’s.
DeMichiei scored a Marquette program-record seven goals against the Red Storm and more than doubled his season output after entering the contest with four goals on the year. In his career, DeMichiei had scored a total of 12 goals in 39 career games prior to Saturday. The honor is the first BIG EAST recognition of his career.
His first career goal also came at St. John’s in 2014 as the then-freshman midfielder scored in double overtime to give MU an 11-10 win in Queens.
McNamara posted four points on two goals and a pair of assists in the victory and now has 28 goals and 33 points this season. He sits fifth in the country in goals per game and is eight goals away from tying the Marquette single-season record held by Tyler Melnyk (36 goals in 2014).
It is the fifth weekly honor of the year for McNamara.
No. 19/17 Marquette will face No. 2/1 Notre Dame at 3 p.m. Central time on Wednesday, April 13 at Arlotta Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
