Conor Gately Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Mention
April 20, 2015
NEW YORK -- The BIG EAST Conference announced on Monday afternoon that Marquette University men's lacrosse junior attackman Conor Gately was named to the weekly honor roll after a four-point performance in a loss to No. 6 Duke on April 18.
The Yorktown Heights, New York native scored two goals and added a pair of assists against the Blue Devils to become the first Golden Eagle in program history to eclipse 100 career points. He currently sits first all-time at Marquette with 102 points and 47 assists through just under three seasons.
Gately would put the Golden Eagles on the board at the 12:06 mark in the first quarter with an unassisted goal after MU fell in an early 2-0 hole. He would go on to assist Ryan McNamara twice, once at the 9:45 mark in the second quarter and again in the fourth quarter, at the 7:03 mark. The junior standout followed his final assist of the afternoon with Marquette's final goal to cap a 3-0 scoring run and help the Golden Eagles pull within four in the final stanza.
The three-year starter has tallied 22 goals and 13 assists during the 2015 campaign and ranks second on the team with 35 total points.
This marks the second time this season that Gately has earned the conference honor.
No. 16/17 Marquette (10-4, 3-1 BIG EAST) hosts Denver on Saturday, April 25, at Hart Park with opening face-off slated for 1 p.m. Central time. The game will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network and Jordan Greenfield, Logan Tousaw, Pat Townsend, Travis Schelhorn and K.C. Kennedy will all be honored in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.
