MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's lacrosse team, which claimed the program's first-ever BIG EAST Conference Tournament title on Saturday, learned Sunday night the squad will host North Carolina (8-6) Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Championship and have earned the tourney's No. 6 seed.

Ticket information for Saturday's 1:30 p.m. CT matchup at Valley Fields on ESPNU will be announced in the near future. The first round and quarterfinals are played on campus sites before moving to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia for the semifinals and championship game (May 28-30).

The entire field was announced Sunday night on ESPNU and Marquette head coach Joe Amplo joined the program live on the phone. The 11th-ranked Tar Heels most recently fell to Syracuse in the ACC Tournament semifinals.

The sixth-seeded Golden Eagles (11-4) defeated No. 1 Denver 10-9 Saturday afternoon at Peter Barton Stadium in the BIG EAST Championship game to snap the Pioneers' 22-game home winning streak and earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. MU, in just its fourth season of competition, is making its first-ever NCAA postseason appearance.

Denver, the defending national champion, claimed the No. 2 seed to give the BIG EAST two programs in the championship.

The winner of the MU/UNC game would advance to play the Notre Dame/Air Force winner. The Golden Eagles dropped an 8-7 overtime decision to the Fighting Irish in South Bend on April 13. Marquette claimed its first-ever program victory against AFA on March 2, 2013.
