May 24, 2017
PERRY, New York -- Former Marquette University attackman Ryan McNamara was recognized as a USILA/Nike Honorable Mention All-American for the second time in his career, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced on Wednesday morning.
McNamara is a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection and Marquette's all-time leader in numerous statistical categories, including goals (102), points (152), games played (64) and started (63), game-winning goals (10) and shots. The Eagan, Minnesota native helped lead the Golden Eagles to back-to-back BIG EAST tournament championships as a junior and senior and the first two NCAA Championship appearances in program history.
Playing both in the midfield and on attack during his career, McNamara set single-season program records for goals (40) and points (57) as a junior and was an Inside Lacrosse Third Team Preseason All-American entering his senior campaign. He was also named as a candidate for the Tewaaraton Award earlier this year and is a 2017 MLL Collegiate Draft hopeful. The draft is slated for Sunday, May 28 at 10 a.m. Central time in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
The No. 18/16 Golden Eagles ended their fifth season under head coach Joe Amplo in the NCAA First Round after capturing their second-straight BIG EAST crown.
