PERRY, New York – Graduated senior Andy DeMichiei was named a 2017 USILA Scholar All-American, becoming the third such honoree in Marquette University men’s lacrosse history.

The accounting and finance double major graduated from Marquette’s College of Business Administration in May and was a member of both the Beta Gamma Sigma and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies.

DeMichiei was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection as a senior while posting 16 goals and a team-high 16 assists. The 2017 Senior CLASS Award nominee was a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and sits fifth all-time in Marquette history with 41 career goals and 77 points. The team captain also holds the MU single-game program record with seven goals at St. John’s as a junior.

A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.

The Marquette men’s lacrosse team won its second-straight BIG EAST Conference tournament title in 2017 to advance to the NCAA Championship, where it fell to fourth-seeded Notre Dame in the first round. It ended the year ranked No. 18 in the USILA Coaches Poll and 16th in the Maverik Media Poll.
