FOLSOM, Pa. -- Marquette impressed members of the collegiate lacrosse community Saturday posting back-to-back victories in their NCAA Division I fall debut at the sixth annual Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic.

MU rallied to defeat fellow collegiate lacrosse newcomer High Point by a score of 13-7 in the early game at Ridley High School, followed by a 12-8 decision over Robert Morris.

Tyler Melnyk scored four goals to lead the Golden Eagles in their opening victory.

The Golden Eagles surrendered the first three points of the game, but then scored nine unanswered. High Point got it back to within four point at 11-7, but MU was able to tack on two more goals to conclude their first-ever NCAA Division I contest in style.

MU held the Panthers scoreless for a stretch of nearly 35 minutes after going down 3-0 following the opening faceoff.

Marquette finally got on the board thanks to Conor Gately, who was credited with the first goal in the history of MU men's lacrosse.
