Men's Lacrosse to Scrimmage Fairfield on Oct. 18
Oct. 8, 2015
"I'm excited to play this fall," Marquette head coach Joe Amplo said. "It's something we haven't done in a few years and I think our seniors need a change up and something to point towards for the fall. I think Fairfield is a really great opponent."
The Golden Eagles are coming off a program-record 10 victories in 2015 in just their third season of NCAA Division I competition and have reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Conference Championship in each campaign of their two-year affiliation with the league. MU returns all but two starters from a squad that was ranked as high as ninth nationally last season in the Inside Lacrosse media poll and boasts 19 players who will exhaust their eligibility this spring.
"Fairfield is someone we have never played before in a scrimmage or a regular season game," Amplo said. "They're one of the better teams in the CAA and should compete for their league championship. We go head to head with those guys a lot in recruiting, so we know their program very well. Two Jesuit schools going at each other in the fall - it will be a good day for both programs."
Marquette's complete 2016 regular season schedule, with five scheduled home contests, will be released early next week.
