Oct. 21, 2016
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s lacrosse team heads to Blaine, Minnesota and the Boundary Waters Lacrosse Classic for scrimmages against Fairfield and the University of Minnesota's club team on Sunday, Oct. 23 at National Sports Center Stadium.
The scrimmages, which are set to begin at noon Central time, will be played in conjunction with a U11-17 boys and girls lacrosse club tournament held on Saturday and Sunday.
"It will be a great destination for Midwest kids to come and watch an NCAA Division I game and have the opportunity to play some great lacrosse," Amplo said when the schedule was released. "It is going to be a great lacrosse weekend all around."
The Golden Eagles are coming off a program-best 11-5 campaign in 2016 during which they captured their first BIG EAST Conference Championship and advanced to their first-ever NCAA Championship. They also faced Fairfield last fall in Connecticut.
Sunday’s contests are Marquette’s lone events of the fall season and the first for the squad since exhibition matches in June against the English National Team in Italy. Sunday will also be the first intercollegiate competition for MU’s 22 newcomers.
