Dave Uhrich is in his 13th season as the head coach of Marquette's men's cross country and track and field programs and is in his ninth year as Marquette's women's cross country and track and field head coach. He is responsible for the academic and athletic development of his student athletes as well as the organization and supervision of both the MU cross country and track an field programs.

In 2000, Uhrich was named Conference USA and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year in women's cross country. In 1997-98, Uhrich was named C-USA Coach of the Year in women's cross country as he led the Golden Eagles to the conference title. In 1996-97, he was named the C-USA Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year after the indoor and outdoor seasons as he guided the team to the league crown in each season. In 1995-96, Uhrich swept C-USA Coach of the Year honors in women's cross country, women's indoor track and field and women's outdoor track and field.

Uhrich has had considerable success with the women's cross country team. In 1995, he guided the squad to a national ranking, the first by a women's team in Marquette history. In 2000, the team repeated that feat. Marquette has won three of the past six women's cross country conference titles and finished fifth at the NCAA District IV Meet in 1995, '97 and '99. This past fall, the squad was consistently ranked in the nation's top 25 and placed third in the NCAA Districts. Finally, the team earned the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Championships where it placed 27th overall.

Uhrich earned his fourth Great Midwest Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year award after his men's squad captured its fourth consecutive conference title in 1994. He has also received the Conference USA Coach of the Year award in men's indoor track (1995) and Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year honors in men's outdoor track (1993, 95), women's indoor track (1993, 94) and women's cross country (1993, 94).

A four-year letterwinner in cross country and track at Marquette, Uhrich enjoyed a very successful collegiate career. He qualified for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship in 1981 and 1983. Uhrich won the NCAA Region IV cross country individual title in 1981. He was Marquette's Most Valuable Runner in 1981 and 1982 and served as team captain in 1983. Uhrich earned All-Central Collegiate honors from 1981-83. He is one of three Marquette runners to earn All-National Catholic honors for four consecutive years (1980-83). Additionally, he earned Track and Field Association All-American honors during the 1981 cross country season.

Uhrich holds five indoor school records and was a member of the 3,200-meter and distance medley relay teams that established school records. Uhrich also owns two outdoor school records and was a member of the record-setting 3,200-meter and 6,400-meter relay teams. He qualified seven times for the NCAA Indoor National Championships. In 1999, he was inducted into the Marquette M Club Hall of Fame.

Prior to coming to Marquette, Uhrich won the Wisconsin high school state mile championships in 1979 and 1980 as a member of the Manitowoc Lincoln team. He graduated from Marquette in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. His older brother, Michael, is in his eighth year as the head men's and women's cross country coach at Saint Louis.

Uhrich, 38, and his wife, Toni, reside in Wauwatosa with their son, Steffen, and daughter, CeCe.
