Barry Bimbi enters his first season as assistant men's soccer coach at Marquette. Bimbi comes to Marquette with six seasons of collegiate coaching experience. He was a member of the staff at Saint Francis in Loretto, Pa., since 1996. During his tenure, Bimbi helped direct the Red Flash to back-to-back winning seasons in conference play in 2000 and 2001, recording the most conference wins in school history. In 2001, Saint Francis led the Northeast Conference in fewest goals allowed and was the top school in the league in shutouts in 2000. At Saint Francis, Bimbi helped recruit and produce four Academic All-Americans, kept the team GPA at or above 3.0, and ran the Red Flash Soccer Camp. In addition to assisting with the Red Flash varsity men's program, Bimbi was the director of coaching for the Keystone Soccer Club in Hollidaysburg, Pa. He was also owner of a soccer-specific retail store, until recently selling the venture to pursue coaching full time. Bimbi was a 1994 graduate of Saint Francis with a degree in business management, earning four letters in soccer. He was a first team All-NEC selection in 1992 and was second team in 1990 and 1993. As a freshman, he led the league in scoring and was captain of his team the next three seasons. He currently holds a USSF class D coaching license. |
