2012: Preseason All-BIG EAST Team selection ... College Sports Madness Preseason BIG EAST Second Team; also began season ranked No. 42 among college prospects on the online publication's Draft Board ... Has not played this season ... Currently rehabbing offseason knee surgery.

2011: Unanimous choice for the 2011 BIG EAST All-Rookie Team ... Twice named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week (Sept. 26 and Oct. 24.) ... Named to Top Drawer Soccer Men's College Team of the Week (Oct. 24) and College Soccer News Team of the Week (Sept. 26) ... Earned MU's Golden Boot Award and MU's Newcomer of the Year award ... One of three MU players and the only freshman to see action in all 19 games ... Made 15 starts, mostly at forward ... Transitioned from the MU midfield to striker seven games into the season, making his first start up top for the Golden Eagles against Michigan (Sept. 18), scoring one and assisting on MU's other goal in the 2-1 win over the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Mich. ... Led the team in goals (9) and points (20) and finished fourth in the BIG EAST in both categories ... Prior to Marquette: James "C." Nortey arrived at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn., from Ghana as part of the Right to Dream Academy, a charity that offers underprivileged children in Africa the opportunity to "reach their true potential" through sport and education ... Was a three-time all-state and all-region selection while at Hotchkiss and led the school in goals scored as a freshman, sophomore and senior ... Hotchkiss went undefeated in 2007 and 2010 with Nortey serving as team captain during the 2010 campaign under head coach Chris Downs ... Recipient of The Theodore Newlin Prize given to the Hotchkiss student who has made the most positive contribution to the school ...
