At Freeport: Lafferty comes to Marquette from Freeport High School. He was a four year starter for the Pretzels, playing for Todd Schwarzkopf and Nick Namio. He was selected his team's Most Valuable Player as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was a two-time first-team all-state selection and an all-conference selection for three years. He was also named his league's MVP as a junior. In his four seasons, he amassed 50 goals and 44 assists and led his team to a league title as a junior. Lafferty was also a member of the Illinois State ODP squad and is a member of the Rockford Raptors Club. In addition, he played tennis, lettering as a sophomore and junior.
