Zach McCallum

2002: McCallum continued to prove his value off the bench for Marquette. He started just four of 19 matches for MU as a junior. He scored two assists from a primarily defensive midfield role. He did move forward at times during the season, launching nine shots. He assisted on goals against Wright State (Sept. 16) and TCU (Oct. 5).

2001: McCallum came off the bench in 2001 and was a starter in six matches. He earned a string of five consecutive starts from Sept. 7 to Sept. 28. He was more of an offensive threat than his previous year. He shot 15 times, finding the back of the net on two occasions. Both of his goals came in a 3-0 win over Northwestern (Oct. 17). He also had a pair of assists on the year, one against Valparaiso (Sept. 7) and one against Wisconsin (Sept. 26). Both assists came during his five-match starting streak.

2000: As a freshman, McCallum saw limited action in his first season with Marquette. He competed in four contests. In those matches, Marquette earned a 3-0-1 record. He made his collegiate debut against Wis.-Milwaukee (Sept. 1) and also saw action against Northwestern (Sept. 12), Cal Poly (Sept. 15) and Drake (Sept. 22).

At Memorial: McCallum served as the Spartans' co-captain as a senior when he was named to the All-State, All-Area, All-City and All-Big 8 Conference First Teams. He was named Memorial's Outstanding Defender as a junior and a senior and was also named to the All-Madison City Team and All-Big 8 Conference Team during his sophomore and junior years. He was named his team's Outstanding Defender in final two prep seasons. He helped his club team earn State Cup titles in 1995 and 1998. McCallum was also co-captain for the Spartan's basketball squad, earning academic All-Conference in basketball. He set school's single-game steals record and finished his career third assists and fourth in steals at on the hardwood at Memorial. He was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born March 21, 1982, McCallum is the son of Scott and Laurie McCallum. He has one younger brother and one younger sister. His father competed for the football, swimming and baseball teams at Macalester College and served a term as the governor of Wisconsin. He is a Pre-Dental scholar.
