Men's Soccer Holds 2011 Player Awards Banquet

Nortey earns Golden Boat and Newcomer of the Year Awards

2011: Unanimous selection to the 2011 BIG EAST All-Rookie Team...Earned MU's Golden Boat Award for tallying 20 points in the 2011 campaign...Named MU's Newcomer of the Year.

Prior to Marquette: James "C." Nortey arrived at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn., from Ghana as part of the Right to Dream Academy, a charity that offers underprivileged children in Africa the opportunity to "reach their true potential" through sport and education ... Was a three-time all-state and all-region selection while at Hotchkiss and led the school in goals scored as a freshman, sophomore and senior ... Hotchkiss went undefeated in 2007 and 2010 with Nortey serving as team captain during the 2010 campaign under head coach Chris Downs ... Recipient of The Theodore Newlin Prize given to the Hotchkiss student who has made the most positive contribution to the school ... Led club team to the U-18 state championship and a third-place finish at the U-19 regional ... Also participated in track and field and dance in high school.
