2002: Robards solidified his role as a scoring midfielder as a senior. He was third on the team in goal scoring with five, trailing forwards Derek Gutierrez and Eric Marshall. Robards put up 36 shots as a senior, directing 11 of those on target. He scored on five of those 11 shots on goal. He scored MU's only goal in a 1-0 win over Saint Louis (Sept. 7) in the C-USA opener. He recorded a goal and an assist against Wright State (Sept. 16). He added goals against TCU (Oct. 5), Charlotte (Oct. 19) and Cincinnati (Nov. 13) in the C-USA Semifinals. He also assisted on both MU goals in a 2-1 win over UAB on Oct. 27. Robards was named second team All-Conference USA at the end of the season.
2001: Robards became an active offensive midfielder in the 2001 season. Always a hard-nosed defensive-minded player, Robards incorporated moving forward into his arsenal of weapons. While he was effective on defense, he also became a distributor, collecting five assists on the year. The total was the second-highest on the team, tying Sean Reti and trailing only Derek Gutierrez. Robards was most potent during a three-match stretch, recording assists in all three contests against Valparaiso (Sept. 7), San Francisco (Sept. 20) and Santa Clara (Sept. 22). Against Louisville (Oct. 6), Robards had his only multi point match of the season, recording both a goal and an assist. He added his final assist against UAB (Nov. 16) in the C-USA semifinals.
2000: Robards scored two goals during the season and added two assists for six points. Scoring is an added benefit when coming from Robards. More an active, hard-working defender, Robards entered the offensive fray more than ever as a sophomore. Robards' increased his shot total to nine after a freshman year when he took just one shot. Robards tallied assists in back-to-back matches against Cal Poly (Sept. 15) and Oakland (Sept. 19). Robards scored his first career goal against Valparaiso (Oct. 8) which proved to be the game-winner in the 2-1 win. Robards other goal came in the season finale, a 4-3 win over DePaul (Nov. 1).
1999: As a freshman, Robards was a consistent defender who started 12 of the 17 matches in which he played at outside defender. He made collegiate debut as a member of the starting lineup in the season-opener at Portland (Sept. 4). A consistent performer who continued to show improvement throughout the season, Robards play continued to improve as the season went on.
At Rockhurst: Robards was named all-state, all-metro and all-district as a senior and All-Sports Connection in 1998. He was an all-district and all-metro second team as a junior. A four-year letterwinner, Robards was team captain in both 1997 and 1998. He was only Hawklets player to win both the Golden Boot (1997) and Solid As A Rock (1998) Awards. He earned "B" Honor Roll status all four years. Robards was also member of Kansas State ODP team from 1995-98 and Region II ODP team in 1998. He helped club team earn the Surf Cup (1994), Tampa Sun Bowl (1997) and Phoenix President's Day Tournament (1999) championships. Current Marquette teammate Matt Darby played with Robards at Rockhurst.
Personal: Born May 6, 1981, Robards is the son of Rick and Susan Robards. He has one younger brother and one younger sister. Robards has not yet declared a major.
